My father was with the Air Army Forces and assigned to the educational and information branch. He worked on “The Log”. I have an original copy of the piece he wrote called “We Saw Dachau”. In it he writes that Dachau was liberated on May 1, 1945. On May 4,1945, he and others from his unit were sent in to see for themselves what had happened there, and to report back.
